Nahounli Kennel & Uplands

Nahounli Kennel and Uplands is your dog’s home away from home. In business since 1980, Nahounli Kennels offers indoor, outdoor, and individual kennels for boarding your dog.
* Indoor kennels consist of 4’x4′ square areas with fully heated floors
* Outdoor kennels are 4’x20′ chain link enclosures on concrete
* There is also a larger outdoor fenced area

Nahounli Kennel is under contract with the District of Fort St James to deal with animal control issues within the District’s boundary. They also are the District‘s Dog Pound and occasionally have animals for adoption if they have not been reclaimed by their owners.

Bob and Monica Grill take pride in the level of sanitary conditions in the kennels, and take great care with their customers’ animals and their welfare.

Meet Monica & Bob Grill

Meet Monica & Bob Grill

When Bob and Monica Grill chose to settle and raise a family in Fort St. James many years ago, they also saw a need for a dog kennel in the community. They opened Nahounli Kennel and Uplands in 1980. Bob has been training hunting dogs for over 30 years. He is currently campaigning two of his black Labrador retrievers in both field trials and hunt tests throughout B.C. Training in the north can be difficult but with a bit of ingenuity it can be successful. He can be seen in local fields, ball fields, and small ponds armed with dummy launchers and stick men simulating hunting situations.

Aside from their obvious love for dogs and the community of Fort St. James, the Grill’s love the lifestyle the community has to offer. They can often be found enjoying the outdoors- fishing, skiing, dog training, walking the woods, or gardening at home.

Their appreciation for the community extends beyond their love for nature. The Grill’s have noticed how local people pull together when a crisis arises, and the Grill’s show their support for the community by contributing to local charities. These include the Fort St James National Historic Site, Community Arts Council of Fort St James, and the Fort St James Humane Society.
